The urgent primary care consultations of the 170,000 inhabitants of the districts of Santiago and Bertamiráns will be absorbed from today by the Continuous Care Points (PAC), with which the Regional Ministry of Health intends to «decongest» the emergency service of this area, attended until now by the University Hospital Complex of Santiago (CHUS).

The two PACs, which will operate from 15.00 to 8.00 hours on weekdays and 24 hours on Sundays and holidays, were inaugurated today by the head of Health, María José Rubio, and the mayor of Santiago, Xosé Sánchez Bugallo, who stressed that they represent a «breakthrough» because they will offer «more and better service».

Specifically, the PAC of Santiago de Compostela will benefit about 150,000 people from nine municipalities in the area of Santiago de Compostela. For this reason, Bugallo insisted that it represents a «great advance» for the region.

In addition, he announced that about 125 consultations are expected on working days and 274 on holidays in the PAC of Santiago de Compostela; while Bertamiráns will host about 21 on working days and 46 on holidays.

The Points of Continuous Attention of the health area of Santiago and Ames-Bertamiráns will begin to operate from June 1 and will cover 150,000 and 20,000 inhabitants, respectively, from 15.00 to 8.00 hours on weekdays and 24 hours on Sundays and holidays.

Se estudió la eliminación de 10 microcontaminantes orgánicos (OMPs) en dos MBRs utilizando diferentes tipos de membranas (microfiltración de lámina plana, MF, y ultrafiltración de fibra hueca, UF) operados en condiciones aeróbicas con dosificación directa de carbón activado en polvo (PAC) en el licor mixto. En ambos reactores se consiguió una alta degradación de la DQO y una nitrificación (>95%), mientras que la eliminación de nitratos sólo se observó tras la adición de CAP. El adsorbente mejoró el funcionamiento de ambos sistemas (propiedades de los lodos y diversidad microbiana), lo que se tradujo en una mejora de la calidad del efluente final. El funcionamiento con ambos tipos de membranas fue factible siendo el sistema de UF ligeramente mejor en cuanto a la calidad del efluente final. La estrategia de adiciones de 250 mg/L de CAP cada 35 días fue validada según los resultados obtenidos para la eliminación de los OMP más recalcitrantes, como el diclofenaco y la carbamazepina. En cuanto al tipo de membrana, sólo se observaron diferencias significativas para el diclofenaco y la roxitromicina, que se eliminaron mejor en la configuración UF. Estas diferencias se atribuyeron a los procesos de sorción y/o de biotransformación posterior que se producen en la capa de la torta.
